Steampunk Machine

The beginnings of a crazy steampunk zeppelin ship thing.

More, Slow Progress

Cleaned up some messy geometry, started down the sides.

1957 Bel Air: I Am The Fresh Prince of It.

Started over, now that I know what I am doing. This time, I will build all of the component pieces individually. It's a much smarter way to go.

Cloth

I learned how to do procedural cloth simulations. This will be used to give my guy some clothes.

Shape Keys - Mystery Lip Sync

Not sure what he's saying, but I like how he's saying it.

Learnin'

(Same guy with slightly better mouth )

Eeek!

This guy is an old school, select-'n-extrude model.

His mouth is jacked up yet, but I like that ear.

Julius Caesar

Making this from photos of busts- and not all the busts agree on what he looks like so I'm making the general compromises as I go.

3D Sketchbook Vol.2

A new guy, speed built in about 1.5 hours. Eye area definitely still needs a lot of work, but learning. Color sensitivity is something to work on too.

Hair hair hair.

3D Sketchbook

Unfinished, bald lady.

Freaky wolfpig type thing.

Blender

I've been experimenting with and learning (and loving!) Blender. I threw this together in a few hours.

I haven't forgotten about the grand game project, however. Blender has some amazing abilities (such as building 3d games) and I am exploring those possibilities.

Materials, ID Numbers

I have learned some valuable lessons about material ID's and sub-materials.

I haven't made time to work on this in a while, but the next week or two should be quite fruitful. I was stuck on this messy texture on my guy's head, but now I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. That should be frustrating, but making mistakes so that I can learn how to solve them is what these projects, and some would argue the very process of working in 3D, is all about.

His hair is no longer a pixelly mess.

Back to the uniform next!

Geometry is (Pretty Much) Done!

All this guy needs is for his hemispheres to be properly glued together and then a snazzy set of clothes and some sexy eyebrows. An outpatient fingerlength reduction procedure might not be a bad idea either.

Experiments, Fingers

(These were an experiment in texturing- the final will not be textured with graphite drawings)

Back to the main fork:

Attack of the sausage fingers!

Built a Lot of His Body This Afternoon

Perhaps he will wear pajamas into battle?

Head Geometry is Almost Done

I still need to do a little work on the seams between the two halves, but his bald head is almost done.

His Face Looks Alien.. But It is Coming Along

(The final won't have these freaky black, all-pupil eyes.)

Roughing Out My Soldier..

The good thing is I only really have to make just one soldier. Computer magic can then turn this one guy into hundreds.

Smoothed Out

Here's the latest. I was a dummy and rendered out that preview in DV/NTSC so it looks all streched out on the screen. Yet another lesson learned.
